The lottery is just another illustration of Democrats trying to keep us in the past and bring more money into Montgomery. The math doesn’t add up and that’s why today, there are states, like Illinois, that can't even afford to pay its winners. We are growing jobs here, and under President Trump's economy, we will grow more.
A lottery preys upon low-income individuals who turn to the grand and empty promises of a lottery to rescue them from dire and desperate circumstances. The astronomical jackpot odds take money away from those who should be investing in a better car, a better set of tools, or career training to earn their next raise.
Misguided fantasies will only suck real wealth out of the economy and take money from those who need it most. The results will be an increase in welfare cases and higher taxes on the rest of us to pay for them. While there will be a very small number of folks who actually win big prizes, the true jackpot winners will be the politicians in Montgomery who love to spend our money. We need real solutions that are based on time-tested economic principles of rewarding hard work with honest wages. Instead of chasing after fleeting chances, let’s support a solid, bankable vision for Alabama’s future.
